Much like the Times Square and Herald Square are named for popular New York newspapers, Greeley Square is named after Horace Greeley who created the New York Tribune in 1841.

It is a small park but its location on Broadway near PATH trains at 33rd Street and the orange/yellow subway lines, and many hotels and shopping makes this a popular park. It is located one block east of Penn Station/Madison Square Garden.
